Karen Elson's divorce from her husband Jack White, the White Stripes' frontman, has been finalized by a Nashville judge. The couple met while filming the music video Blue Orchid, the first single from the White Stripes’ album Get Behind Me Satan. They married in 2005, and then announced that they would be separating in 2011.
“We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow,” the couple said at the time. “In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party, an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.” The split started out as a mutual quiet agreement, but then later led to restraining orders and requests for psychiatric evaluations after the divorce party went bad.
Elson, a British model and singer/songwriter, later filed for divorce in September 2012. After a year, a Nashville judge finally signed off on the divorce making it final. Elson will remain the primary residential guardian and White will have visitation rights to his two children. White will also retain all rights to his music business.
