Kanye West reportedly got into a heated argument with Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh, and recounted how it went down during a podcast interview with Bret Easton Ellis wherein he said that the site only sells “shit product“. In a cheeky bit of revenge, Hsieh used his own site to burn the “Bound 2” singer.

“I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos,” West told Ellis. “[H]e’s trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this shit product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling shit product.”

West mentioned the incident in more detail onstage at a show in Brooklyn, saying, “I got off the phone with this one dude. I guess he used to run a multi-billion dollar company or something like that and he had some advice for me, right. He said, ‘I don’t approve of your methods in your interviews lately…But he said if he could just give me some advice, he doesn’t approve of the way I’m going about things as of late. And when anybody that’s supposed to have a lot of money talks to me and they give me advice, I call that free advice, because they’re trying to tell me what to do and they ain’t cut no check yet.”

In retaliation, Hsieh posted a new product on Zappos.com worth just $100,000.
