  • When the NCAA announced that it was investigating Texas A&M star and defending Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel there were a lot of Aggies fans that were left to sweat it out, even though the player’s attorney’s claimed that he would see the field this season. Well, today those fans can breath a huge sigh of relief and look forward to the season they were anticipating all along.

The NCAA announced today that they have concluded their investigation of Manziel and while he will face a suspension, it is not one that will see a lot of A&M fans up in arms. Manziel has been suspended for one half. The unorthodox suspension will be served during the first half of A&M’s season opener against the Rice Owls on Saturday.

In the end Manziel was only found guilty of allowing his likeness to be used for monetary gain, which is only a minor violation of NCAA policy regarding players receiving compensation. Jim Darnell, Manziel’s attorney that claimed his client did nothing wrong, reportedly agreed to the short suspension in order to get Manziel back on the field and out of the NCAA’s sights.

With the investigation behind them A&M can no focus on their national championship hopes and Manziel can work on defending his Heisman; he’ll just have to do it with one half less than the rest.
