Johnny (HTML) 5: Google Introduces New Robot
Written by Chris Crum

HTML5 was a big theme during today’s Google I/O keynote. Chrome was a big theme as well. It seems fitting then, that Google would unleash a lego robot, which talks to a Chrome app using Javascript and HTML code. It also seems fitting that it would be named Johnny(HTML)5.

If you don’t get the reference, watch Short Circuit.

This post appeared today on the Google Chrome Developers Google+ Page:

Google Chrome Developers

Introducing Johny (HTML) 5 a Lego NXT-Mindstorms (c) robot communicating to a Chrome packaged app (Serial over bluetooth), with only Javascript and HTML code. Come and see it in the Chrome Sandbox and learn how to build apps like this in the 1:30 session "The Next Evolution of Chrome Apps" (http://goo.gl/kVSNi)

Google I/O seems to have a larger theme this year of robots combined with funky music, as evidenced by this dancing Droid, and this speaker dock robot, which appeared at the Day 1 after party.
