John Cusack is reportedly involved in a film about ultra-conservative Rush Limbaugh, in which the well-known liberal actor will portray him.

Cusack’s production company, New Crime Productions, is taking on the project and says the script is being polished right now; production is tentatively scheduled for early next year. Director Betty Thomas (“Private Parts”) is set to helm the movie.

While the idea of Cusack–who is an ’80s icon and is well-known for his comedies, both dark and light–taking on the role of such a strong, famous personality may clash with what we have come to expect from the actor, New Crime says it won’t be an attack on Limbaugh or conservatives.

“The script would explore the rise and reinvention of American Talk Radio, and Limbaugh’s continued influence and impact over the last three decades in that world,” the company said in a statement.

Cusack has been fairly vocal over the years about his ire for the Bush administration and has supported President Obama, although in recent years he’s voiced concern over the president’s military policies.
