  • Jimmy Fallon has been criticized for being too soft on some of his guests on the Tonight Show, especially the controversial ones.

    But Fallon thinks not.

In an interview with Bill Carter on SiriusXM, the late night talk show host said it’s just not his job to ask the tough questions.

“That’s not my job,” Fallon said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not Meet the Press. I’m not Face the Nation … We have people on that people don’t like. I know that. But that’s not my job. You make your own opinion. I can just show you the best person that they are and try to bring out their more personal side and play with them.”

Here’s the entire clip of the interview:

Jimmy also provided an update on his injured finger that was nearly ripped off when he tripped over a run and caught his ring on a counter as he tried to catch himself.

Fallon told Carter that his finger is “fantastic” some four months after the accident, which kept him in the intensive care unit for 10 days, and credits healing to physical therapy and bending it as frequently as possible.

Pain is not the issue, Fallon told Carter.

“I don’t feel it, that’s the problem,” said Fallon. “I don’t feel my ring finger and right now I don’t feel my pinkie. The doctor said it will probably be another six months I get feeling back. There’s nothing wrong with the tendons.”

Fallon, who missed his entire summer vacation because of the accident, said it was a life-changing event.

“It’s times like that that make you realize how lucky you are,” said Fallon.

Thinking he had just broken his finger and in little pain at the time of the accident, Fallon compared the type of injury he endured — finger ovulsion — to chicken wings.

“I would compare it to taking a chicken wing, putting it in your mouth, biting at the end and pulling it out,” said Fallon. “You’ve got the bone, but everything else, the tendons, everything is somewhere else.”

    Ew.
