After gaining a reputation as one of the funniest people on television for his role in The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons has been selected as a host of Saturday Night Live. It will be his first time hosting the show.
As an experienced member of the comedic genre, Jim Parsons is likely to be welcomed with open arms when he takes the stage on Saturday Night Live. With a starring role on one of the biggest comedies on television, he may involve his character somehow, and parody Sheldon Cooper during the show.
On CBS’ hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons plays Sheldon Cooper, a brilliant, but socially awkward physicist. He has won several Emmys and Golden Globe awards for his role on the show, and the show has also been recognized on several occasions. Kaley Cuoco has also been recognized for her role on the show, and in addition to Cuoco, the show stars Johnny Galecki and Simon Hedberg.
This year, Jim Parsons won an Emmy for Best Actor In A Comedy, and was nominated for a Golden Globe, but shockingly lost to Andy Samberg.
He has also been cast in an upcoming HBO film called The Normal Heart, which Parsons also starred in on Broadway. In addition to Jim Parsons, the film boasts an excellent cast including Julia Roberts, Alfred Molina, Mark Ruffalo and several others.
He will be joined in the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live by Beck as the musical guest. Beck will be returning to the show for his seventh time, and will be there to promote his new album. Morning Phase, which hits stores on February 25th.
Who is excited for the return of Saturday Night Live? Will Jim Parsons match up against previous hosts, or be even better?
The next episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Jim Parsons will air on March 1st.
