  • Jason Derulo is setting the record straight on why he and his girlfriend of three years Jordin Sparks decided to call it quits.

Derulo stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest to explain what happened between him and the Battlefield singer.

He explained that the duo seemed to argue a lot and there was a lot of pressure to get married. Those things combined lead to the demise of their relationship.

“Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage. There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time,” he explained to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

As far as being on good terms, Derulo says they are not there yet. “I wouldn’t say good terms,” he said. “I’ll be lying if I said that, but it’s not a bad situation. There’s no bad blood. We didn’t end off on a weird way or a negative way. It’s not like we’re hitting each other up, like, ‘Hey, what are you doing today?'”

Sparks also dished on the break-up this morning on NBC’s Today.

When asked how she was handling the split, Sparks said she is doing really good. “I’m good, actually,” she said. “The funny this is I read this quote, ‘When something unexpected happens in your life or you think something bad happens, just say, plot twist! And move on.'”

Sparks has also taken to Twitter to share inspirational quotes. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” she tweeted on Friday, September 26.

Yesterday, Sparks tweeted a quote from the Bible. ‘She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.’ -Prov 31:25,” she wrote.

Derulo also took to social media to reveal his thoughts on the situation.
