Ireland Baldwin announced on Twitter today that she will be spending some time at a rehabilitation facility in order to deal with “emotional trauma”, saying she needs to work on overcoming things that she’s been pushing away rather than dealing with.

The 19-year old daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin laughed off reports from gossip sites that she’s in rehab for drug and substance abuse, saying she’s not much of a partier. Reps for her family have not commented, but a source told People Magazine that the young model is telling the truth about simply wanting to take a break from things to work out some issues.

“She’s not using, this is not drug-related, she voluntarily checked herself in. She’s just been in some tough situations lately, and it’s gotten a bit stressful and overwhelming, so she’s just being proactive. She’s in there to get the tools she needs to move forward in a positive direction,” the source said.

Although it has been reported that Ireland’s parents checked her into the facility, nothing of the sort has been confirmed, and reps for Alec Baldwin have not commented. Ireland is reportedly close with her father despite rumors to the contrary when she was just eleven, after a voicemail was leaked in which Baldwin allegedly called his daughter a “rude, thoughtless little pig”. The actor later said that the leak was orchestrated by Kim Basinger, with whom he had a highly publicized divorce.

“I spoke to a lot of professionals, who helped me … If I committed suicide, (Kim Basinger’s side) would have considered that a victory. Destroying me was their avowed goal,” Alec Baldwin said.
