The beloved Harry Potter books seem to be the gift that keeps on giving for Warner Brothers. The combined movies brought the studio more than $7.7 billion in box office sales.

As you may already know, it has recently been released that J.K. Rowling’s book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was written as a textbook for Hogwarts will be made into a feature film. Fantastic Beasts was written to provide financial support for the charity, Comic Relief, where J.K. Rowling penned the 42-page book back in 2001. Newt Scamander will serve as the protagonist for Fantastic Beasts. Interestingly, the name of Newt Scamander has been trademarked by Warner Brothers.

Now, many are wondering if there is a potential for even more spin-off movies. According to Bleeding Cool, Warner Brothers has recently trademarked other books within the Potter universe such as Tales of Beetle the Bard and Quidditch Through the Ages. Warner Brothers is not only trademarking books but also notable components of the Harry Potter universe. The Quidditch teams of Wimbourne Wasps, Kenmare Kestrels, and Chudley Cannons have also been trademarked.

The recent move to trademark these two books could mean that movies may be made based around them. However, there is no certainty at this point whether Warner Brothers intends to make multiple spin-off movies. Right now it appears that Warner Brothers is Potter-trademark happy, but the exact reason is still not known.

I guess one of the real questions is: will the Harry Potter franchise ever officially come to an end? If left up to the millions of fans in league to continue the wizard world then the answer would be a resounding no.
