Google announced the launch of two new ad sizes for AdSense ads – 970 x 250 Billboard and 300 x 1050 Portrait. These, the company says, will help publishers reach more advertisers, and of course, “enhance the user experience”.
“As with most of our ad sizes, both of these ad units can accommodate standard text ads in addition to image ads,” says Google AdSense product specialist Alexey Petrov. “Additionally, they can show similar-sized image ads when doing so will maximize the performance of your ad unit. In this case, a 300 x 250 ad would serve in the 970 x 250 ad unit and a 160 x 600 would serve in the 300 x 1050 ad unit.”
“As both of these new sizes are large ad units, you can place a maximum of one per page,” Petrov adds. “As always, remember to keep a balance between your content and ads and ensure your ad placements comply with our AdSense program policies.”
Late last year, Google began offering custom ad sizes, or as the company put it, 434,216 new ad unit sizes. These can be accessed via the Custom Ad Size option from the Ad Size drop-down.
The company encourages users to offer feedback as usual.
