Godzilla!

The trailer for the May 16, 2014 movie will be released online today, creating much anticipation and buzz within movie fanatics.

The 1998 version of this movie didn’t live up to the hype and movie-goers have yet to see the King of All Monsters truly take over the big screen. But Gareth Edwards, director of the new Godzilla, hopes to change that.

The movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“The Illusionist”), Elizabeth Olsen (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”), Bryan Cranston (from television’s “Breaking Bad”), Juliette Binoche (“Chocolat”), David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck”), Sally Hawkins (“Happy-Go-Lucky”), and Ken Watanabe (“Batman Begins”).

MTV News lists a few things we would like to see in Edwards remake:

* Godzilla: show something, for heaven’s sake! Photo leaks do show that the new Godzilla design is similar to the classic look – but with more spikes.

* Destruction: make Godzilla destroy some stuff. It’s what he does.

* The “Monsters” Touch: Gareth Edwards got this job based on his last movie, “Monsters,” in which he did the special effects himself.

In May, the film is expected to be presented in 2D, 3D, and IMAX in select theaters.

The trailer will be released today at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time and 1:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Until then, check out the teaser trailers on a viral site set up by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.
