Just when actress Ginnifer Goodwin thought that her first pregnancy had taught her everything she needed to know about having a baby, the second time around has opened her eyes on how different pregnancies can be.

The 37-year-old actress had her first child, Oliver Finlay, almost two years ago with husband, Josh Dallas. Now that she’s expecting a second son, she is realizing that this pregnancy is much more challenging  than the first one.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Ginnifer Goodwin revealed that she is now more sympathetic to expectant moms who also have young kids to look after.

“Now I’m running after a toddler, working on a series and doing a press tour,” the Walk the Line star said. “The first time you feel like you are pregnant for four years. This time, I don’t know how many weeks I am. I have to reference my date book!”

The actress, who lends her voice to the lead character in Disney’s new film, Zootopia, is actually due this spring. She also admitted that this pregnancy has gotten her craving “sweet and refreshing and wonderful” watermelon popsicles.

Despite her current struggles, Goodwin says that she’s been doing “remarkably well” and that her hectic schedule is helping her focus on something else other than her difficult pregnancy. She and her husband have also started prepping their firstborn on his upcoming role as big brother.

“He definitely understands the concept of a baby,” the Once Upon a Time actress told People. “He pulls up my shirt every day and pats my belly and says, ‘Hello baby.’ We kept telling him your brother can hear you. So he just pushes his face into my belly and talks.”

The addition of a new baby will certainly test the family’s patience and cooperation, but Ginnifer Goodwin says she and her husband wouldn’t have it any other way.

“My husband and I were talking the other day and saying, ‘Remember the days when we would just go to the movies and read a book and just take a nap? All of the free time we took for granted,’ ” she fondly says. “My husband said, ‘And we would give it all up, all over again, for that look on his (son’s) face after he has been dunked in the swimming pool and he just comes up out of the water with pure joy on his face’.”
