Gigi Hadid, whose mother is one of the stars of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, says she doesn’t know what she’ll do when she’s done with the modeling world, but she does know she doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps.
At a time when young models and actresses are competing for attention at an alarming rate–and with social media sites like Instagram boosting their careers–it can be difficult to establish staying power in the business. Hadid says there’s more and more pressure on girls these days to figure out what comes next.
“What people want to know is, OK, what’s after modeling? And that’s forcing us to think about those things [even earlier]. It’s not just OK anymore to model until you’re 25 and then stop and be a housewife,” Hadid says.
Hadid has nothing to worry about, however, with magazines like Adweek giving her covers and social media followers numbering nearly 3 million, the 19-year old has a lot of people who are interested in what her next move is, and they’re likely to follow.
“I’m an entertainer, and I think that I’ll always be in that business,” Gigi told Adweek.
Few may realize that before landing her first modeling gig, Hadid went to school to study criminal psychology.
“Who knows? I could always be a fact checker on CSI,” she said.
Of course, Hadid knows how to keep her followers coming back for more; aside from gorgeous modeling shots that usually include one or more famous faces (Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne), she’s also been known to share photos of herself with her boyfriend Cody Simpson that leave little to the imagination.
