George Zimmerman Gets Out Of Jail

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few months, you are probably aware of George Zimmerman. In case you have been living under a rock, the full story can be found here. To give a brief recap, Zimmerman was charged for second degree manslaughter in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, and was eventually acquitted of all charges after a very heated, racially charged trial. People were furious about the outcome, and since then, Zimmerman has remained in the public eye, mostly for pulling out guns and (allegedly) assaulting and threatening other people. (But there was that one time he saved a family from a car accident, so that kinda makes up for it… right?)

Zimmerman has made his way back into the public eye, yet again, for threatening and assaulting someone… yet again. The (alleged) victim this time is his pregnant girlfriend, who says that Zimmerman threatened her with a shotgun. He was arrested and sent to jail shortly after the incident. A Florida judge set his bail at $9,000 and made special rules to go with the bail, demanding that Zimmerman not have access to any weapons as he awaited his trial. Zimmerman has been charged with a felony charge of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of domestic violence battery and criminal mischief. His trial date has been set for January 7th of 2014.

Zimmerman posted the $9,000 bail and has been freed from his jail cell, free to roam as long as he does not access any weapons, wears a monitor, and stays away from the girlfriend he threatened at gun point (allegedly, of course). Zimmerman has expressed that he believes he will be acquitted of all charges after the trial. In light of all the wrongs that have been done by this man, unpunished, no less, here’s to hoping that he’s wrong about that.
