Foursquare announced the release of a new iPad app to bring an optimized version of its recently re-launched service to Apple's tablet as a lot of them are bound to be sold this holiday season.

According to the company, an iPad version of the app has been in high demand by users since Foursquare's re-launch. Foursquare says in a blog post:

So next time you’re trying to figure out what to do for your next trip or even just next weekend, fire up Foursquare. It’s focused on helping you plan smarter. Choose your city, and you’ll get a personalized list of all the great places there. And, with one-tap, you can easily save anything you like to your dream itinerary.

We’ve also added a brand new section: all the top picks in your area. Using all of Foursquare’s data, it suggests places that are newly popular, up-and-coming, and local mainstays. It also has suggestions for travel destinations; from must-see sights to hidden gems in most of the largest cities and neighborhoods around the world. It’s the perfect way to get inspiration for your next getaway (whether it be real or just for your bucket list).

Last week, Foursquare made its app available for Windows desktop and tablet devices.
