Square Enix announced last month that its long-in-development HD ports of Final Fantasy X/X-2 would finally hit the PS3 in March. At the time, it also announced that the game would be receiving a limited edition. Now Square Enix is back with more news about a collector’s edition and the Vita editions of the game.
In a post on the PlayStation blog, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will launch on March 18 on both the PS3 and PS Vita. While the PS3 version of the game will come with both games on one disc, the Vita version will not. Instead, those who buy the handheld version will get a physical copy of Final Fantasy X and a download voucher for Final Fantasy X-2. The Vita version will support cross save functionality, and will retail for $40.
If you want even more out of your Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD experience, Square Enix is offering a collector’s edition that will be exclusively sold from its online store. The collector’s edition comes with the game, a full-size hardcover art book, five lithographs and a “visual soundtrack.”
Wait, what the hell is a visual soundtrack? Here’s how Square Enix describes it:
This isn’t your everyday soundtrack — it’s actually more than six hours of music set to images from the game that you can hit play on and be taken on a visual journey through some of Final Fantasy X’s most memorable moments. If you’ve ever wanted to share your love for the game with someone special, this would be a great way to do it.
If you want to snag the Collector’s Edition, it will only be available via the Square Enix online store for $80. You can find it here.
