Facebook is reportedly telling some Page admins to tell their fans what they’re up to for the holidays. AllFacebook shows a screenshot of the box that pops up.
The box says: “Celebrate the Holiday Season. Share a post about what Your Page has planned for the holidays.” It also has a big “Write a Post” button.
I don’t know that Pages will really get a lot out of this feature, but Facebook has already given some nice presents to Page owners in recent weeks, which they’re no doubt far more appreciative of. This is, of course, little comfort after the big organic reach drought of 2014, but at least it’s something.
The new stuff includes post targeting and, call to action buttons, as well as improvements to search and Trending, which I’m sure you’re aware of.
It’s unclear if Facebook intends to prompt all Pages to update followers about their holiday plans, as not all Pages are getting it. Time is running out for such updates, so I guess if you don’t get it soon, you can forget about it. Or you could, you know, just post a regular update about it.
