Facebook just announced that it’s testing a new update to Messenger on Android, designed to make it faster and more reliable for mobile-to-mobile messaging.

The update includes the ability to see which friends are using the app, the ability to message others through Messenger as long as you have their phone number, and a new look with navigation to see recent conversations, people on Messenger and your settings.

Facebook says it will be testing the new experience with a limited number of people (of course).

Earlier this month, we learned that Facebook was testing some changes to Messenger for iOS as well.
