Facebook announced on Monday that it is rolling out an expanded, personalized notifcations tab in the Facebook app on Android and iPhone in the U.S.

The new tab enables users to see and customize info like friends’ milestones (such as birthdays and life evens), sports scores, TV reminders, and upcoming events.

“You can also add additional, optional information that is tailored for you based on where you are if you enable Location History in the Facebook app, including local news, weather, movie showtimes and restaurants,” a Facebook spokesperson tells WebProNews.

“With this update, your current notification settings will not change, and you can adjust those any time in your Settings,” says product manager Keith Peiris. “You can also customize the info you see by tapping the arrow to the right of each card, or ‘Add More Cards’ at the bottom of the tab.”

All new push notification reminders are opt-in and customizable.

The company says it will be listening to feedback from users on how to improve the feature and that it may periodically add more cards to choose from.
