Actress Emma Watson, who is best known for her portrayal of Harry Potter character Hermione Granger in the insanely successful films, has gotten a bit of a bad-girl makeover for a role in Sofia Coppola’s film “The Bling Ring“, and she wears it well.

The film is based on the true story of a group of girls who robbed several celebrities’ homes in 2008 and 2009, making off with $3 million in cash and property before being caught. Watson’s character Nikki is loosely based on Alexis Neiers, who briefly had a reality show on E! called “Pretty Wild” which documented the shenanigans of her family–namely her two sisters and fame-seeking mom. Alexis was busted as one of the Hollywood thieves right around the time the show aired and went to jail for felony theft after stealing from actor Orlando Bloom. It’s worth noting that she spent some time in a cell right beside Lindsay Lohan, one of the victims of the robberies.

As Nikki, Watson sports long brown hair, a motorcycle jacket, and teeny shorts with sky-high heels, along with tattoos and the Hollywood-requisite big sunglasses. It’s all quite a change from her “Hermione” look, which in the early films included knee socks and pleated skirts. Fans seem to be agreeing, however, that it doesn’t matter what look she sports…she’s still as beautiful as ever.

The film, which opens next year, also stars Kirsten Dunst and Leslie Mann.
