Emma Stone is reportedly in early talks to play an iconic role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone is in negotiations to play Cruella de Vil in the upcoming film Cruella.
The film is a live-action origin story of the classic character from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.
Of course, Stone wouldn’t be the first actress to play the originally-animated character on the big screen. Glenn Close had that honor back in 1996.

More from THR:
The project, Disney’s live-action re-imagining of the 101 Dalmatians character, has no director but it is a priority for the studio which is hoping to shoot the film later this year.
Kelly Marcel is writing the script which is intended to be an origin story of the character. Aline Brosh McKenna worked on an early version of the script.
This July, you’ll be able to see Emma Stone in a musical called La La Land with Ryan Gosling.
“La La Land, starring Crazy, Stupid, Love comrades Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, is a musical set in modern-day L.A. The title is not intended as snark — as you can tell from this marvelously old-fashioned moment in the film, where we see a musician (Gosling) and a struggling actress (Stone) express their blossoming love for each other via a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers-inspired dance,” says Entertainment Weekly.
