The newest member of the celebrity babies’ club has arrived. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt welcomed their first child, daughter Hazel, today. She arrived merely days after Valentine’s Day, making this a truly memorable one for long time couple Blunt and Krasinski. Previously, the couple kept silent on what time they were expecting the little one but gossip magazines predicted it would be either the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014.

Krasinski took to Twitter to share his excitement. He first introduced his tweet by saying that he wanted to let the world know directly about his news. Then he spoke for Emily and himself by expressing  their happiness with the arrival of their daughter Hazel. He ended the tweet by saying “happy bday.”

Wanted to let the news out directly. Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!

After a two year courtship, the couple married in Italy in 2010. Since then, Blunt and Krasinski have expressed their desire to have children in various interviews. In 2012, in an interview with Manhattan magazine, Blunt revealed that both she and Krasinksi come from large families. So having children has always been part of their life plans; they just weren’t sure when.

After Blunt’s interview, Krasinski told Matt Lauer on the Today show that watching his friends’ behavior with their kids was preparing him for fatherhood. Krasinski revealed to Lauer how he watched his Promised Land costar Matt Damon handle his children. He stated that, “we actually wrote with children climbing all over him, and he was doing bath time and dinner and everything, and we still got it done.” Clearly Krasinski was impressed by Damon’s parenting skills because shortly after, Blunt was pregnant.

Us Weekly first broke the news of Blunt’s pregnancy in September 2013. A source told the magazine that the couple bought a bigger place to begin preparation for their future children.

Before giving birth on February 16, Blunt had one last celebration. In December, she hosted a star-studded baby shower at her Los Angeles home. A few of the celebrities on the guest list were Jennifer Aniston, her fiancé Justin Theroux and House of Lies star Kristen Bell.

When asked by a fan in January about how he felt about becoming a father, Krasinski expressed his excitement, and possible fear.
