The Duggar family is over the moon with excitement about the arrival of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s baby, Israel David Dillard. Born on Monday night at 11:49 PM, the little bundle of joy weighed in at at impressive nine pounds and 10 ounces.
On the Duggar Family Blog, proud grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar (Israel David Dillard is their fourth) share the birth announcement.
“Yeah!!! Our sweet new grandson, Israel David Dillard is here. We love him so much already and we love his name! Our Jill is doing wonderful and Derick seems to have a permanent smile on his face now! Israel is precious and his arrival is just another reminder of how very precious life is and how every child is a gift from God. We are happy grandparents!” they write.
Check out their blog to see a short video clip of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard–along with baby Israel–in what definitely appears to be a hospital room.
That brings to light something that deserves mentioning. Jill Duggar, who is studying to become a midwife, had planned on a home birth. You’ll notice in the video clip that she alludes to the fact that things didn’t go quite as planned. It will be interesting to see if fans become privy to what it was about Jill’s labor that made them wind up in a hospital instead of delivering ‘Baby Dilly’ at home.
He’s here! Israel David Dillard has made his arrival. He was born at 11:49pm on April 6, 2015. He weighed 9 lbs and 10 ounces and measured 23 inches long. We think he’s adorable! Mom and baby are both doing wonderful. Watch their personal video message on their website here:

Of course, you’ll also note Jill’s reference to the TLC special episode of 19 Kids and Counting that will highlight Israel David Dillard’s birth. For some time now it had been part of the plan to not only have Michelle Duggar and Derick Dillard’s mom present for the labor and birth–but the TLC cameras as well. Perhaps the network has convinced Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard to save that one little tidbit of information (why they wound up in the hospital) for the 19 Kids and Counting special episode.
By the way, fans can tune in to that episode on May 5th.

All that matters to the Duggar family right now, however, is that baby Israel has arrived safely, and that Jill Duggar has emerged from her ordeal of labor and delivery (well over a week late, too) in good health.
The Duggar family has certainly been blessed, and they seem positively thrilled with their latest blessing.
