DuckDuckGo Launches New ‘Search & Stories’ App

DuckDuckGo has had an Android app available for a couple years, and now it has finally launched an update, calling the app Search & Stories, and launced it for iOS too.

The app lets users search anonymously, much like the site (and the whole reason it exists). DuckDuckGo says it won’t track you, “filter bubble” you, or collect or share your personal info.

The app provides “instant answers” from hundreds of sources, auto-complete and the ability to search directly on thousands of other sites with !bang commands.

On the “stories” side of things, the app provides the most shared stroies from “hand-crafted” sources, including the most emailed and upvoted stories, and promises “no depressing news or graphic content” and “no repeat topics per day (even across sources.”

You can find it in the App Store here or in Google Play here.

Earlier this month, news came out (on the heels of the big PRISM reveal) that DuckDuckGo had broke its all time traffic high, with 2 million direct searches. I wonder how many new Android app installs there were.
