If you’ve been waiting to take the trip back to Downton Abbey, today’s the day to start your journey (if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber).
Season four of the hit PBS drama has just landed on Amazon Prime Instant Video.
Prime Instant Video is the only subscription streaming service that will have season four, as well as the previous three seasons. Last year, Amazon won the exclusive streaming rights to Downton Abbey past, present, and future – stealing the show away from Netflix and Hulu.
The deal with PBS Distribution stated that Prime Instant Video would retain exclusive streaming rights through season five, were it to happen (which we now know it will).
Snatching Downton Abbey away from Netflix and Hulu was a big move at the time, and one that Amazon said was based on Downton‘s overwhelming popularity on the service. Apparently, the move payed off – Amazon now says that Downton Abbey is the most-watched TV show in the history of Prime Instant Video.
