The son of actor Michael Douglas has endured a painful beating while in prison, and Douglas is furious about the care his son is getting while behind bars.

34-year old Cameron Douglas is serving nine years for dealing drugs and has allegedly made some people with ties to the mob very upset, as there is rumored to be a bounty upon his head after he named names in order to get a lighter sentence. Now he’s recovering after a nasty beating from the men he ratted on and might consider filing a lawsuit against the doctor who mistakenly told him he had a sprained femur rather than a clean break.

“He broke his femur, which is hard to snap, and had to have a rod inserted,” a “source” told the New York Post. “He told health services staff that he hurt them playing handball. You don’t break a femur playing handball…he’s still walking around on crutches two months later.”

Douglas suffered some broken fingers, as well. His father has said he feels he is to blame for some of his son’s wayward behavior, but acknowledges that time in jail might be the best thing for him, saying that without it he was “going to be dead or somebody was gonna kill him. I think he has a chance to start a new life, and he knows that.”

Cameron is not eligible for parole until 2018.
