Ikbal Hare pleaded guilty in England on Tuesday for assaulting Darth Vader’s wife.
Hare claims the man, who legally changed his name to that of the infamous “Star Wars” character from Mark Nokes several years ago in honor of the release of “The Phantom Menace”, was having an affair with his girlfriend. When he confronted him about it, the incident turned ugly and Hare took a swing at Vader, who got out of the way just in time for the punch to land on Mrs. Vader’s face (she had her name changed, too).
The couple are neighbors of Hare’s; the scuffle drew onlookers, who said Hare appeared to have a knife. He fled the scene, only to be arrested two days later at his girlfriend’s house.
Hare has been sentenced to 18 months of probation and anger management courses, and 200 hours of community service. His lawyer, Jas Mann, said, “He knows he behaved badly. Whatever provocation there had been there was no excuse for what he did.”
