Cissy Houston attended the wake for her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown on Friday evening at the Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta. She paid her respects alongside members of the late Whitney Houston’s family

It was around 6 p.m. when the Houston family arrived at the funeral home, led by Cissy Houston. Members of the Brown family stayed outside the funeral home in their cars until after the Houston family members paid their respects.

Bobby Brown was accompanied by his wife Alicia Etheredge, as well as his sisters Tina and Leolah Brown. There was no mention of Bobbi Kristina’s cousin Jerod Brown, who was known for misinforming the media since the day Bobbi Kristina first wound up hospitalized.

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s life will be celebrated at a funeral on Saturday morning at the Saint James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. It is an invitation-only gathering. Earlier this week Cissy Houston and Bobby Brown were at odds over those who would receive invitations and those who wouldn’t. There were apparently several members of Bobby Brown’s family that Cissy Houston refused to invite.

Bobbi Kristina Brown died on Sunday. She was discovered unconscious in a bathtub in her Roswell, Georgia home back on January 31. She never regained consciousness. After being hospitalized in Atlanta, she was transferred to a rehab center. From there she entered the Peachtree Christian Hospice outside of Atlanta, where she stayed for a month until she passed away.

Bobbi Kristina will be buried in New Jersey beside her mother Whitney Houston. This means Cissy Houston can visit her granddaughter and her daughter’s graves at the same time.

What a terrible thing for this 81-year-old woman to experience. Her heart was broken when Whitney Houston died in 2012. Now, just three years later, she has lost her granddaughter, too.

Cissy Houston has a strong Christian faith that will no doubt get her through these next few painful days. Because of that faith she likely finds peace in knowing her daughter and granddaughter are once again united.
