Chloe Sevigny opened up about her thoughts regarding movie stars recently in an interview with V Magazine, and she didn’t pull any punches.
The American Horror Story: Asylum star was talking about the magnetism that a big star has, and the ability some celebrities have to draw big box office numbers because of the charisma they display in interviews and on talk shows. Sevigny said she thinks Angelina Jolie and Emma Stone are both great examples, but as for Jennifer Lawrence…she’s “crass”.
“So much is about marketing and selling the product. They’ll have a really peppy funny girl on the talk show rounds, and everybody adores her and loves her and wants to be her or f*ck her, and then so many more people want to watch the movie or TV show. I understand that star quality, how much value that carries. I love when a movie star is a great movie star. I think Angelina Jolie is a great movie star. I don’t think I can be that, or just be an actor. I don’t think I have the charisma. Which is probably why I never reached another level. I like Emma Stone. Whenever she’s herself, she’s really cute. Jennifer Lawrence I find annoying. Too crass,” she said.
Lawrence, who doesn’t really do social media, hasn’t responded to Sevigny’s comments, but the world of Twitter has. Lawrence’s fans spoke up as soon as Sevigny’s interview went live, bringing up the actress’s past performances as proof that she doesn’t have the right to call anyone “crass”.
“@etnow: Whoa. Chloe Sevigny says she finds #HungerGames star Jennifer Lawrence "annoying, crass." AND MORE SUCCESSFUL THEN YOU CHLOE!

Let's not remind Chloe Sevigny about her performance in The Brown Bunny. "Crass" isn't the word I'd use. https://t.co/QZmRRgjxUY
