Charles Manson Film Gets Lead Actor

Charles Manson has fascinated and captivated for dozens of years, even from behind bars. People are curious as to how one man attracted so many devotees willing to follow him into a life filled with murder, and a new film looks to explore those relationships.

With the recent news that Manson is set to marry a 26-year old woman from prison comes a renewed interest in the life he shared with several other young women, many of whom went on to serve prison sentences of their own for their part in the murders of seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate. A new film about the Manson family–Manson Girls–will take a look at the early lives of the eight young women who vowed devotion to Manson and will shed some light on how they came to meet him before moving on to document the murders.

Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Devil’s Rejects) is set to play Manson after years of speculation; the film’s producers have been trying to find financial backing. Moseley said in 2012 that he also recorded a song for the soundtrack, which is featured in a small sneak peek of the film released by director Susanna Lo.

Moseley, who has played quite a few scary characters over the years, says that although it’s fun to play imbalanced people, someday he’d like to try something a little different.

“It’s a load of fun to do that. But I think there’s a pigeonholing. I don’t think I’m going to be the lead in any romantic comedies anytime soon. Although I’d certainly like to try,” he said.
