Chandler Williams, an area league football player, died suddenly over the weekend in Florida during a flag football game. He was just 27 years old.
Williams spent the most recent football season with the Tampa Bay Storm and was drafted in 2007 by the Minnesota Vikings, but never got the chance to play a full NFL game.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Chandler,” Tampa Bay Storm team president Derrick Brooks said in a statement. “Our heart and prayers go out to his fiancĂ©e Vanitia Harrigan, daughter Tori Williams and the rest of his family.”
Williams also saw playing time with the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs during his career.
Officials originally didn’t release the cause of death but are now saying it was “natural causes”.
