Catherine O’Hara has quite an impressive resume, and several of her most hilarious roles were in Christopher Guest films alongside Eugene Levy. Now, the comedic duo are about to team up again for a new scripted show on POP (formerly TV Guide Network).
O’Hara and Levy will play a rich-beyond rich couple–she a soap star, he the owner of several video stores–whose fortune dries up, forcing them to move to a place called–wait for it–Schitt’s Creek, which they bought as a joke when they were still riding high on wealth.
“This show answers the question — what would the Kardashians do if they woke up one day, completely broke?” said Brad Schwartz, Pop’s president of entertainment and media.
The show will also star Annie Murphy and Daniel Levy, who co-created the show and is also Eugene Levy’s real-life son.
O’Hara and Levy have had huge success over the years in solo roles; Home Alone and Beetlejuice always come to mind when one sees the redhead, and Levy was, of course, the most understanding dad ever in American Pie. However, the characters they play opposite one another have made them a force to be reckoned with in the world of comedy, with titles like Waiting For Guffman, Best In Show, and A Mighty Wind.
Schitt’s Creek debuts on January 13 with two back-to-back episodes.
