To start out the NBA’s regular season, basketball fans were treated to a match-up of Eastern conference powerhouses, Bulls vs. Heat. The Miami Heat made a strong statement in their win, utilizing all of their all-star players in an easy win for the two-time defending champions.

While the Bulls vs. Heat match-up proved to be a big game for any basketball fan, the Heat got off to a commanding lead of 54-33 in the second quarter, seeming to steal the game from the beginning. However, they did let the Bulls comeback later in the game, and they were able to cut it to single-digits. Although the lead was simply too much for the Bulls to take on, and despite their efforts, they lost with a final score of 107-95.

The Bulls struggled offensively, and were down by as many as 25 early in the game. The story that perhaps stood out most during the game was the trust that the defending champions seemed to show in one another. Seven players were able to score in double-digits, including all five starters, and they all showed patience within the framework of the offense.

We all knew that after Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and Lebron James got together that success was just a short time away, and they have proved that with back to back NBA championships. They also get great help from their other players such as Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, and more.

This Bulls vs. Heat match-up also saw the return of the Bulls star Derrick Rose, who was the 2011 NBA MVP and certainly the best player on their team. They struggled last season without him, and the 25-year-old star just played in his first game since being sidelined with a knee injury in April of 2012.

An intense rivalry has been growing with the Heat vs. Bulls in recent years, and Rose wants to get a championship of his own, saying “Of course I want to come out here and be the best player, but my whole goal is to come out here and just try to win a championship. … Winning MVP or whatever, I’ll take it, don’t get me wrong. But my job is to come out here and just try to win a title.”

The Bulls vs. Heat match-up in game 1 resulted in a fairly easy win for the Heat, showing fans that they have their sights set on yet another championship. Their next game is tonight at 7 p.m. against the Philadelphia 76ers.
