It has taken decades but Bruce Jenner can finally live the way she wants to. And she began her new life by introducing herself to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair.

The cover’s headline “Call me Caitlyn” pretty much sums up the direction the Olympian is headed.

The Vanity Fair cover, which was shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, shows Jenner posing in a white corset, with minimal makeup and with her long hair flowing free.

Other photos in the accompanying interview showed the 65-year-old Jenner wearing a glamorous ball gown and a silk kimono. Leibovitz’ discerning eye for detail beautifully showcased the athlete’s natural grace

Aside from debuting her new look and name, Jenner also created a new Twitter account.

“I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me,” read her first ever tweet.

Her journey to become Caitlyn started a long time ago but it was only this year that she finally admitted to Diane Sawyer that she was “for all intents and purposes, a woman.” Jenner didn’t admit at the time what her new name will be, only jokingly informing Sawyer that “it wouldn’t start with a K” and requesting that male pronouns still be used. The Vanity Fair cover was admittedly carefully orchestrated, as was the choice of photographer and writer.

Buzz Bissinger, author of Friday Night Lights, is also very open about cross-dressing and says that he was chosen to write about Caitlyn because “of the sports connection, and my own journey into the world of cross-dressing.”

Caitlyn’s debut has already generated a media storm, with her family and friends already tweeting their support.
