Bobbi Kristina Brown has been in a medically induced coma since being discovered unconscious in her bathtub nearly a month ago. When doctors tried removing her from that coma this past week, she suffered severe seizures. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however.
According to People magazine, an expert explains that seizures–in the case of Bobbi Kristina Brown–might be a good thing.
“Seizures indicate that the patient is not brain dead,” Neurologist Eli Zimmerman of Massachusetts General Hospital told the publication. “There has to be some brain activity.”
Dr. Zimmerman isn’t treating Bobbi Kristina Brown, but his expertise is revered in the neurology field. He added that while 28 days in a coma is a “long time,” there is a reason to keep her in that state.
“Patients are sedated–put into a medically-induced coma–because doctors want the brain to have to do as little as possible,” he explained. “This way, the brain can heal.”
“The medications that are used to sedate the patient also prevent seizures,” Zimmerman added. “If the brain has been irritated by injury, it may go into seizures once the medication is stopped. In a situation like that, we may introduce medication for seizures that are not so severe.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown remains on a ventilator. Family members surround her around the clock. Dad Bobby Brown (Bobbi Kristina is the daughter of Brown and the late Whitney Houston) still hasn’t relented and allowed Nick Gordon, the man Bobbi Kristina referred to as her husband, to visit his daughter. Bobby Brown believes Nick Gordon is withholding important information about what happened the day Bobbi Kristina was found in the bathtub.

Last week Brown’s lawyer issued a statement about Nick Gordon on his client’s behalf.
“Due to Mr. Gordon’s failure to place in tangible form his understanding of the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina, there is no reason for any additional discussion with him,” the statement read.
Hopefully this latest information about Bobbi Kristina Brown indicates that there is a shred of hope for her recovery. A recent report indicated the family had all but given up hope, as there had been no ‘signs of life‘ since the seizures Bobbi Kristina suffered last week.
Do you expect Bobbi Kristina Brown will recover? Do you think Bobby Brown will ever let Nick Gordon back into her hospital room?
