Come on down! CBS is reporting that legendary The Price is Right game show host Bob Barker will be returning to the show for a special guest appearance that will air on his 90th birthday, December 12th.

Barker was the show’s host for 35 years before his retirement in 2007. Comedian Drew Carey took over the hosting duties and has been there ever since. The plan is for Barker to present a special showcase. You may also remember that Barker used to warn his audience that they should, “Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered” at the end of every show. Drew Carey has also continued the tradition. CBS will honor Barker’s lifelong commitment to animal activism by running pet adoptions from December 9th through December 13th.

Bob Barker’s special episode has already been taped. So even though we know about Barker’s appearance on the show, the studio audience was in a for a huge surprise when he suddenly showed up. Thankfully, it appears that CBS and Barker worked out their differences after the former host was not invited to the production’s 40th Anniversary Show last year.

The Price is Right is as popular as ever. It is still the #1 rated daytime television show.
