You might want to sit down for this news, especially if you’re a fan of Blizzard. BlizzCon 2012 has been canceled.
Citing a jam-packed schedule on their blog, Blizzard has opted out of holding their annual convention of all things Blizzard this year. They will use the time to focus on all the products they have coming out this year like Diablo III, Stacraft II: Heart of the Swarm and the WoW expansion Mists of Pandaria.
To perhaps fill the gaping wound in your heart, Blizzard will instead host the 2012 Battle.net World Championship. The tournament will host StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena championships somewhere in Asia. My bet is on South Korea.
If the void in your heart is just too big to be filled by some tournament, Blizzard confirmed that BlizzCon will be back in 2013. Better save that Kerrigan costume until next year then.
As always, the Twitterverse has exploded with the news:
It is time to face the bitter reality inflicted by lack of Blizzcon. We are now all people who, by necessity, must use the word “tweetup”.
No Blizzcon in 2012. It’s like Blizzard has too many cash printing machines and just ran out of paper for one of them.
Man, no BlizzCon is like Christmas being cancelled.
Honestly… I could care less about some gaming championship. I wish they’d just tell the truth: “No BlizzCon because we have nothing new.”
Since there’s not going to be a blizzcon this year, I need ideas for vacation.
