Ben Affleck, who was, of course, the bomb in Phantoms, is reportedly being considered to direct the Justice League movie.

This news comes from Variety's ShowBlitz, who reports that Warner Bros. has approached Affleck, who is "expected to discuss the project with studio brass in the coming days."

Early speculation is that Affleck could bring his gritty tone, on display in his films Gone Baby Gone and The Town, to the picture. He could be a good person to at least attempt to capture something along the lines of the tone Christopher Nolan was able to set with his Dark Knight trilogy.

Affleck does have a fair amount of comic book-related movie experience, having appeared in Daredevil, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

If Affleck does become the guy to bring Batman and Superman together on the big screen, presumably along with Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, etc., it's more likely that they'll not include the brand of humor associated with the aforementioned Kevin Smith flicks.

In other major super hero movie related news, it also became official that Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed The Avengers, will return to write and direct the sequel.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) is still posting pictures of himself to Google+:

“I am so happy to be home, to be shooting a movie of this magnitude here at home is one of the great privileges I have had in my career.” - Hugh on filming "The Wolverine" in Sydney, Australia
