Pleasantville, New Jersey police have revealed that the bullet that struck rapper Beanie Sigel in the stomach was likely not intended for him.
Sigel, born Dwight E. Grant, was shot in the abdomen Friday during a drive-by, just after dropping his children off at school. The Philadelphia-born MC had been living with his brother-in-law.
Lt. Danny Adcock commented, “He may have become involved in something that was not necessarily his own doing. Just wrong place, wrong time, if you will.”
The bullet that hit Sigel exited through his back, and the 40-year-old Roc-A-Fella Records signee spent five days in the hospital. His 22-year-old brother-in-law suffered only minor scratches and bruises, and was not cooperative with authorities after being asked how he’d sustained the injuries. While he isn’t suspected as being the gunman, Sigel’s relative is still being looked at as a possible instigator of the shooting, as he had previously been charged with drug possession and the possession of an illegal firearm.
Adcock added, “cooperation from the family is minimal.”

Sigel’s “Feel It In The Air”:
The incident was not the first instance when Sigel, 40, took a bullet. In 2006, the rapper sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was likewise charged with illegal weapons possession.
Sigel was transported to an Atlantic City hospital after the incident. It has been reported that he is in stable condition.
