Activision released the trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 yesterday. It had all the hallmarks of a military shooter – guns, explosions and exciting set pieces. With all the excitement, you would be forgiven if you forget that DICE was still releasing content for last year’s impressive Battlefield 3.
DICE and EA released the premier trailer for Battlefield 3’s next content pack – Aftermath – this morning. The new maps take place in a post-Earthquake Iran where players will have to fear the environment just as much as enemy combatants.
The DLC expansion also introduces new weapons and modes. Of particular interest, Aftermath introduces the crossbow into combat. It also introduces Scavenger mode. Here’s the official description from DICE:
In Scavenger mode, lost soldiers start equipped with only a knife, one grenade, and sidearm and must search the environment for more powerful weapons to increase their chance at surviving and eventually winning.
Aftermath is the fourth expansion to hit Battlefield 3 this year. It will be made available to Battlefield 3 Premium members on November 27 for the PS3. PC and Xbox 360 players with Premium will get it on December 4. Regular PS3 players will get it on December 11 with everybody else getting it on December 18. The pack will cost $14.99.
