Batman may just want to be helpful, but not everyone wants his help.

33-year old Mark Wayne Williams was arrested over the weekend for obstructing a police investigation after he tried to assist Michigan police in finding a driver who fled from an accident scene. The problem was, officers had a dog on the scent and Williams got in the way, throwing the dog off.

“He wouldn’t clear the scene, and we had a canine out there and he kept screwing up the scent,” State Police Sgt. Jeff Gorno said. “He said he wanted to help us look for the driver.”

Williams didn’t have any weapons on him, but his costume and gear were confiscated; he has been in trouble with the law before after he was found in costume on the roof of a business in his hometown and was sentenced to six months probation, during which he was not allowed to wear the costume.

The interesting thing about Williams is that he chooses to wear the old-school, Adam West-type version of the Batman costume; perhaps that’s why he’s not being taken seriously.
