Barnes & Noble is bringing its Nook products to the UK this fall, the company announced today. Customers will be able to access the digital storefront via nook.co.uk, and the company will begin selling its E Ink Readers, Nook Simple Touch, and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight.
This is a significant occasion for the company, not just because it’s opening its Nook business to a whole new set of customers, but this is actually the first time the company has expanded internationally.
Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch said, “We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of NOOK reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK. We’re confident our award-winning technology, combined with our expansive content – including books, children’s books, magazines, apps, movies and more – will bring UK customers the option they’ve been waiting for.”
Nook will launch in the UK in mid-October. The Nook Store has over 2.5 million digital titles, including books, newspapers, magazines, comics, apps, etc.
Customers will be able to purchase devices in stores and online. Barnes & Nobles says more info about the pricing and availability will be available in the coming weeks.
