Reality TV star and new host of the talk show 1st Look Audrina Patridge revealed some dirt this week. The brunette beauty alleged that the MTV reality program The Hills, in which she starred for six seasons, was…wait for it… fake. And by fake, she meant semi-scripted.

Although this may not be much of a shocker, what is a bit surprising – and slightly disturbing — is that producers set up situations that forced the cast to fight with each other.

“In the beginning, a lot of it was real,” she stated in an interview. “As it went on, it was very manipulated and guided and you’re kinda put in these scenarios where you would show up and you didn’t know what you were in for until you were there, and you wanted to run out but they lock the door on you.”

Patridge went on to discuss one situation involving cast mates Kristin Cavallari and Justin Bobby.

“I actually had to leave early for another event. We were there for about three hours and they were like, ‘You can’t leave until you and Kristin get into a fight.’ So I’m like, ‘Oh my God, Kristin!’ Kristin’s like, ‘Let’s do it.’ I’m like, ‘OK, c’mon.’ It was about Justin and we did it and we got to leave. So, little things like that,” she said.

Cavallari confirmed Patridge’s claims by discussing how The Hills and its predecessor Laguna Beach featured semi-scripted scenes and situation manipulations.

“Laguna Beach, they really just manipulated situations and put us in situations that we normally wouldn’t have been in, or we’d have to film something that maybe happened a month ago or hasn’t happened yet—stuff like that,” Cavallari claimed. “When I decided to join The Hills, I knew exactly what I was getting into, I knew exactly the character they wanted me to be, so I said, ‘Listen, I’m game. What do you want me to do?’”

Despite the show’s flaws, Patridge claims she wouldn’t change anything about her experiences.

“It was a show and we had fun,” she stated. “You want to be interesting and cause drama because that’s what people want to see. At the end of the day, I don’t think I would do anything different.”
