Ashley Judd and her husband, Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti, may have announced their separation earlier this year, but that didn’t stop her from running to his side in the hospital after a horrific crash on Sunday during the Grand Prix in Houston.
Franchitti went airborne during the race and hit a fence, leading to a broken ankle, a concussion, and two fractured vertebrae. With the news that her husband had broken his back, Judd left immediately for Texas, keeping her fans updated along the way. Many are now wondering if the two are headed for a reconciliation after announcing their separation in January. The pair said the split was mutual and amicable, but neither have filed for divorce officially.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” the couple said in a statement.
The crash also injured 14 people in the crowd after debris from the car flew into the air; Franchitti took to social media on Sunday to thank fans for the well wishes and to express concern for those who were injured.
Thank you to everyone for all the well wishes. They mean a lot to me.
