Anthropic has launched Claude for Financial Advisors, a set of connectors and workflow skills that plug Claude into the custodians, portfolio platforms, CRMs and planning tools advisers already use. Anthropic told InvestmentNews it is the company’s first complete offering built around a single financial-services role.
The pitch is time. A typical advisory practice spends only a sixth of its time in client meetings, Anthropic said in its announcement, citing Kitces research, with the rest going to preparing, planning and documenting.
Connectors and skills
New connectors at launch come from Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard and Zocks. Schwab’s connector, for example, pulls Schwab Advisor Services custodial data such as balances, positions, transactions, cost basis and money-movement status. They join existing Claude connectors for Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar.
A single plugin bundles the adviser skills with connectors, and advisers pick which to connect during guided setup. BlackRock is also launching its own plugin for Advisor Center. The skills cover moments in an adviser’s day, including onboarding, alternative-investment briefs pulled from iCapital or Addepar, estate and tax summaries, portfolio rebalance reviews, meeting prep and follow-up, prospect intake and compliance checks. Firms can adopt them as is or adapt them to their own workflows.
An orchestrator, not an adviser
Peter Nolan, Anthropic’s head of asset and wealth management, said the product is meant to sit on top of existing systems. “We’re very intentionally not trying to replace any of the deterministic calculations that go into investment advice,” he told InvestmentNews. “Those systems continue to do the portfolio management calculations, investment recommendations, et cetera. Claude is just an orchestrator on top of them.”
The first release is aimed at registered investment advisers. “RIAs tend to be smaller, [so] they can move quickly,” Nolan said. Anthropic plans to extend it later to independent and employee broker-dealers, wirehouses and private banks.
Design partners include Rockefeller Capital Management, which said in June it would build a wealth platform on Claude, plus Dynasty Financial Partners, Mercer Advisors, LPL and Ritholtz Wealth Management. “I don’t want my CFPs spending hours every week laboring over CRM updates and task assignments,” said Ritholtz CEO Josh Brown. “Claude for Financial Advisors is the first thing I’ve seen that sits on top of the whole stack and does that work across it, with the compliance controls we need built in.”
