Anna Kendrick is very unhappy that her good friend Mae Whitman wasn't signed to the upcoming film Independence Day 2. Whitman played the role of the president's daughter in the first film, but didn't get cast in the sequel. The role was given to Maika Monroe instead.

Time magazine reports that Mae Whitman wasn't even considered for the role in the sequel. Lucy Boynton, Merritt Patterson, Gabriella Wilde, and Britt Robertson are listed as the actresses Maika Monroe beat out. There was no mention of Mae Whitman.

The Pitch Perfect star voiced her dismay via Twitter.

Mae Whitman was very appreciative of the support Anna Kendrick showed her.

It no doubt enrages both Anna Kendrick and Mae Whitman that some are saying she didn't get cast in the Independence Day sequel because she isn't 'hot enough.'

Kudos to Anna Kendrick for sticking up for the Parenthood star. Even if Mae Whitman didn't get cast in Independence Day 2, she knows her friend has her back.
