Though the full cast and creative team has not been announced yet, the main character in the revival of Michael Frayn’s award-winning comedy has been.

According to Playbill, Tony and Emmy Award winner, Andrea Martin, will star as Dotty Otley in Noises Off at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway in January 2015.

Martin is just coming off a 2013 Tony win for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in the revival of Pippin. She has previously been seen on stage in My Favorite Year, Candide, Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, and, most recently, Act One.

The 67-year-old’s career began soon after college and in 1976 she found herself on a Canadian sketch comedy show called SCTV with then-unknown actors John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Harold Ramis. The same comedy troupe performed on stage in Toronto as The Second City throughout the 1970s.

Martin is no stranger to film, either. She has appeared in Wag the Dog, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Producers, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, just to name a few.

Though American, her unique look comes from her Armenian decent, making her a versatile actress on both stage and screen. As Dotty, Martin will no doubt charm audiences with the character’s forgetful charm.

The farce, produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company, is a 3-act play-within-a-play that follows the misfortunes of a c-list British troupe as it rehearses, performs, and tours a British sex farce called Nothing On.

Roundabout describes the show as such: “Full of shocking surprises and gut-busting humor, Noises Off is the classic show-within-a-show. The Opening Night performance of the farce Nothing On is just hours away, and as the cast stumbles through their final dress rehearsal, things couldn’t be going any worse. With lines being forgotten, love triangles unraveling and sardines flying everywhere, it’s complete pandemonium… and we haven’t even reached intermission! Can the cast pull their act together on the stage even if they can’t behind the scenes?”

The revival of Noises Off will be directed by Englishman Jeremy Herrin and will be a limited engagement.
