Amy Schumer was offered the job to take over The Daily Show when Jon Stewart leaves.
But, Amy Schumer said no. Why? Too many blazers. Well, okay, that’s not the entire reason.
Amy Schumer revealed to Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show, saying she “hung out with Jon Stewart a little bit…[and] took a couple meetings.”
Amy Schumer explained that “hang[ing] out” with Stewart meant, “We had a piece of pizza and talked about the possibility of me hosting.”
Amy Schumer then laid out the vision she had when she thought about taking over The Daily Show.
She said, “I was kind of fantasizing about like, ‘Oh, my brother and my whole family can work there and everyone will get paid well and we’ll have this little commune’…and I just pictured all the fittings, like all the blazers I would have to wear. And I was like, ‘I don’t want to have to do that.'”
Amy Schumer said she also believes that she can do much better that a gig on The Daily Show.
She said, “Like, this way, ‘I’m secure and I know I’ll make this and I know I’ll have this job,’ but I’m like, ‘No, I’m going to bet on myself that I can do more.'”
Also, Amy Schumer isn’t sure people would take her seriously as the host of The Daily Show.
She said, “I think if I heard that I was hosting The Daily Show, I would be like, ‘Oh, give me a f—ing break.'”
Amy Schumer later added, “Trevor [Noah] will be so much better at it than I could have ever been.”
What do you think? Do you think Amy Schumer would have made a good host for The Daily Show? Or do you agree with her reasoning?
