AMD has inked a deal to use Samsung foundries for production of its semiconductors, opening the possibility of AMD-powered Chromebooks.

Well-known leaker @OreXda tweeted that AMD had agreed to use Samsung for its 4nm production.

TechRadar posits that this agreement could lead to AMD-powered Chromebooks, which could offer significant performance and efficiency benefits over the current Intel-powered models.

Even aside from the possibility of Chromebook diversity, AMD’s deal with Samsung could be a major benefit for the company. As TechRadar points out, TSMC is largely at capacity for its 4nm production, and Apple has already sewn up the company’s first run of 3nm production.

AMD diversifying its supply chain is a good thing and will help the company continue to deliver industry-leading processors.
